“Pá Adebanjo did not speak for Afenifere , he expressed his personal opinion as a Nigerian “-Says Afenifere spokesperson , Jare Ajayi
The spokesperson of the Yoruba sociocultural and political organization , Afenifere , Comrade Jare Ajayi has debunked the news that Pa Ayo Adebanjo spoke on behalf of the Afenifere group , he said the leader’s support for Mr Peter Obi is his own personal interest, not Afenifere .
According to him , the leader of the Yoruba group spoke on behalf of himself as a Nigerian, and not on behalf of the Yoruba group , the secretary said that Pa Ayo Adebanjo is a Nígerian like every other person and is also entitled to his own personal opinion as a Nigerian
Speaking on Sola Yussuf’s Yoruba Gbode Interactive chat on Sunday 31st , the secretary and public relations officer said Pa Ayo Adebanjo has debunked the wrong interpretation of his support for the labor party presidential candidate , Mr Peter Obi , he said the Afenifere did not meet to decide on who or not to support , so the statement does not represent decision of the entire Afenifere group but his personal opinion as a leader .
Attending to Ancestral News’ Adeyinka Olaiya , ‘ Comrade Ajayi said Pá Ayo Adebanjo had confirmed to him that he did not speak on behalf of Afenifere. but his personal opinion and views , so it should not be considered as official voice of the Yoruba group .
The secretary also cleared all doubts that Afenifere is against the Yoruba nation , he said the group supports whatever decision that will benefit the Yoruba race .
According to the spokesperson , the group is composed of honorable members , which includes men and women of honor , he said decisions and pronouncements of the Afenifere group is consensus , and not from one person only , Comrade Ajayi said the media has misinterpreted the message from Pa Adebanjo .
Comrade Jare Ajayi is a strong member of the elitist Association of Nigeria Authors (ANA) and is also the present spokesman for Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere.
