The LEADER of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, last Friday , Sept .15th , responded to Nígerians in Brazil , the Yoruba leader and activist said , the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, in the 2023 poll , is nothing , but the Flag bearer of the Oppressed in Nígeria
The 94 year Old Yoruba leader who spoke on a live video conference , reinstated his support for the South East candidate , he said , “ Let an Easterner rule Nígeria , it is a matter of Justice and equity “
Pa Adebanjo reinstated his claims that the Afenifere group is for Justice and equity , irrespective of the tribe , he said the group holds no grudge against the APC or PDP , “ It is a matter of Justice and Equity” – he said
Responding via Adeyinka Olaiya live Channel In Brazil “ , Pá Adebanjo said , “ We know Peter Obi very well, that is why we endorse him. He will not disappoint Nigerians, let us put tribal difference apart and vote in right leaders.” Says Pa Adebanjo
The leader advised Nígerians in Diaspora to mobilize supports for Mr Peter Obi , he said the labor candidate will bring back stability to Nígeria and Nígerian professionals in diaspora can return home to help rebuild the nation .
Asked why the leader denied supporting Asiwaju Tinubu , the Yoruba comrade said the philosophy of Pa Awolowo , whom he is an apostle is never to discriminate but to build a peaceful society where every Nígerian can live in peace and harmony , Pa Adebanjo insists that the change of power between the Northerners and the South Westerners is not a demonstration of equity , he said Justice is when every part of the country enjoys the same right “ The federal character is for Justice and Equity , let the South East rule too “ – he said .
Attending to questions from participants in Brazil , Pa Ayo Adebanjo said : “ Obi is the flag bearer of the Oppressed , the government of president Buhari has failed the masses , let Peter Obi rules “ Pa Adebanjo insists firmly
The Yoruba leader revealed the Nigeria he dreamt of is not the Nigeria he is seeing today , he recorded the days he raised placards along with other freedom fighters in London for the Independence of Nigeria , Pa Adebanjo said the Nigeria today is contrary to what he dreamt before independence , he insists in a South East leader to lead Nígeria out of depression .
Asked about his grievances with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , Pá Ayo Adebanjo said : “ I made him governor of Lagos State , I have nothing against him . After all , I will benefit more from him if he turns president , but I want to stand on the truth , so am supporting Peter Obi”- the leader said .
Attending to questions on Yoruba nation agitation , Pa Adebanjo said :” I am not against the agitation or in support , I am pushing for restructuring , the 1999 constitution is a fraud, it must be reviewed “ – The leader said he has never criticized the Yoruba nation leader , Prof. Banji Akintoye , and will also not criticize the IPOB leader , Mr . Kanu .
According to the Yoruba leader , all the agitators are his boys , he said Masi Kanu of IPOB , Chief Sunday Igboho of Yoruba nation , Iba Gani Adams of Yoruba One Voice are all his comrades “ They are reacting to injustice in Nígeria “ the leader said
Asked to advise the Nigerians in Diaspora , Pá Adebanjo said “ Stand on the truth , support the right candidate “ – He also advised the agitators to continue their reasons until a better society is attained “ Aluta Continua “ Pa Adebanjo exclaimed .
