Santos football club , the king Pele’s eternal soccer team , this Tuesday , 27th of Sept .2022 , celebrated Nígeria , it officially launched the third kit , which pays homage to Africa.
The third jersey , designed in commemoration of the historic friendly match played in Nigeria during the civil war that held the conflict zone for a friendly match to be played between Pele’s Santos and Green Eagles of Nigeria . The warring factions agreed to a seize fire for fans to watch Santos play in Benin
In commemoration of this historic event , Santos football club received important dignitaries in the Club’s Arena before the duel against Athletico Sports Club on the 27th . Sept. 2022 . It received members of the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil , African traditionalists , African Ambassadors in Brazil, Afro-Brazilian dance groups, Yoruba traditionalists in Brazil , African refugees in Brazil , African youths and several Afro organizations at the “Memorial das Conquistas” in Santos
The launching counted with guests from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and the Observatory on Racial Discrimination in Football .The club thanked the agencies and organizations that supports Afro Brazilians and Africa in diaspora
The supporting organizations coordinated by Baba (Barr) Maximino Pedro , includes the African Cultural Center , Ancestral-Axis Nig. Ltd , Publisher , ancestrals.com.ng , the CIA Tribo, the Afro Cultural research and dance institute , the African Cultural Center , Barrafunda, Saopaulo . Brazil .
Santos Club displayed 23 flags of African countries , the numbers and characters designed in African patterns . All African countries represented with names written at the back of the Jersey .
