Nigérian Inmates Flogged Daily In Ethiopia Prison , Warders Celebrate

Nigérian inmates in the Kaliti Prison, Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital city, have appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to come to their aids.

According to reports , Nígerian inmates are beaten , flogged daily by warders and prison authorities , they are treated differently from other foreign inmates. Investigation reveals that some Nígerian inmates who already completed their jail terms are still in prison without date and time to go home “ They derive pleasure in purnishing Nígerians” -Says Amaechi

“ If we talk too much , we are beaten like slaves . They use sticks and horse whips on us . It is nothing different from slave trade era “ Says Nnamdi

“ The warders line us up for stokes daily , they beat hell out of us . They maltreat us because we are Nígerians and the embassy can not help us , they don’t visit us again “ Says Emeka , a Nígerian inmate

Ancestrals had reported that over 300 Nigerians were languishing in the Ethiopian prison facility , they have been arrested for various crimes including illegal possession of hard drugs and money laundering.

“The prison warders invade in tens using sticks , stokes , horse whips to beat Nígerian inmates , they are ready to terminate our lives only because we are Nígerians . “- Says Nnaemeka

“ The overall condition in Kaliti prison is bearing hard on Nigerian inmates . The health services is very weak and inmates suffering from precarious health issues are going through severe health crisis. Some of the inmates who have complicated health issues have died , a lot are not getting the supply of their prescribed and dedicated medications . “ Says Amaechi

The inmates , in an open letter to Ancestral News appeals to the government of Nigeria to rescue them from modern day slavery , they beg the government of Buhari to save them from Ethiopia prison ” Let us serve our jail term in Nigeria ” – Aniete insists
