Colourful floats and flamboyant dancers delighted thousands jammed into Saopaulo’s iconic Sambadrome, putting on a much expected Carnival celebration after the pandemic halted the dazzling displays years back .

The Sambadrome, which during the pandemic was turned into a vaccination centre, today 15th February , 2023 , received over 70 thousand tourists who watched the samba parades live in the Arena

The art and culture parade, which began with the national anthem, is more than just a dance competition and is also used to highlight important social issues in Brazil such as religious intolerance, racism and violence.

Saopaulo’s Sambodromo parades are a fantasy of beautiful bodies and dreamlike costumes but the self-declared greatest show on Earth is prepared in the street next to an open sewer.
