Following the dangerous mob attacks and stoning of the sacred palace of the Ooni of Ife with petals and stones by over 5,000 Islamic terrorists and other various groups in Ile-Ife , the king of Ogboni Iwashe fraternity , Oba (Ogboni) Adekunle Aderounmu , has lashed on the Islamic adherents in Ile-Ife
Reacting to the horrible incident , Aderounmu spoke from his Iledi in Brazil , the Yoruba traditionalist said : the stoning of Asetani is in Mecca , not Ile-Ife , he insists the Muslims should respect the sacred place of our forefathers
According to him , “ it is ridiculous, demeaning, treasonable felony and capable of inciting unprecedented violent reprisals from real Omoluabi Yoruba and Olorisha devotees “
Oba Aderonmu , who is the president of the African cultural center in Brazil , further stressed such havoc could eventually provoke chaos . He said the incident , if not properly handled , could extend to the whole of Ile-Ife and spread like wildfire to other parts of Yoruba land.
The traditionalist asked the state police departments to caution the incidence and make sure such does not repeat itself , the Ogboni Lord reminds the extremists that Ile-Ife is the Sacred home of Yorubas worldwide , so throwing stones at the palace of Ooni of Ife is same as stoning your forefathers.
Aderonmu said the traditional religion adherents in Nígeria accommodates all but it’s never a reason to abuse opportunities , he said Ile-Ife is a land of Orisa , so it should be respected .
It should be recalled that Stoning of the Devil is part of the annual Islamic Hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Muslim pilgrims throw pebbles at three walls (formerly pillars), called jamarāt, in the city of Mina just east of Mecca. It is one of a series of refined preislamic ritual acts that must be performed in the Hajj. It is a symbolic reenactment of Ibrahim’s (or Abraham’s) hajj, where he stoned three pillars representing the Shaitan, and Muslims’ temptation to disobey the will of Allah.
