President Bola Tinubu has made a significant decision by retiring all service chiefs, advisers, and the Comptroller General of Customs. Concurrently, the President has appointed a new set of individuals to assume these vital positions, bringing a wave of change and fresh perspectives to the forefront
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has made a announcement, signaling a new chapter in Nigeria’s leadership. In a decisive move, he has ordered the immediate retirement of all Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, as well as Advisers and the Comptroller-General of Customs. This retirement paves the way for the appointment of fresh faces to take on these critical roles, with the changes taking effect without delay.
The individuals selected to assume these important positions are as follows:
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has been appointed as the National Security Adviser.
Maj. Gen. C.G Musa will serve as the Chief of Defence Staff.
Maj. T. A Lagbaja has been appointed as the Chief of Army Staff.
Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla will assume the role of Chief of Naval Staff.
AVM H.B Abubakar has been appointed as the Chief of Air Staff.
DIG Kayode Egbetokun will act as the Acting Inspector-General of Police.
Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye will serve as the Chief of Defense Intelligence.
President Tinubu has also approved additional appointments that are crucial for the smooth functioning of the government. These appointments are as follows: Col. Adebisi Onasanya has been appointed as the Brigade of Guards Commander.
Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf will assume the role of the 7 Guards Battalion, Asokoro, Abuja. Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa has been appointed to serve at the 177 Guards Battalion, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim will take on responsibilities at the 102 Guards Battalion, Suleja, Niger. Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote will assume the role of the 176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Furthermore, the President has approved the appointment of several military officers within the Presidential Villa, contributing to the efficient functioning of the institution. These appointments include:
Maj. Isa Farouk Audu (N/14695) as the Commanding Officer, State House Artillery. Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu (N/16183) as the Second-in-Command, State House Artillery.
Maj. Kamaru Koyejo Hamzat (N/14656) as the Commanding Officer, State House Military Intelligence.
Maj. TS Adeola (N/12860) as the Commanding Officer, State House Armament. Lt. A. Aminu (N/18578) as the Second-in-Command, State House Armament.
President Tinubu has also recognized the importance of advisory roles and has appointed two additional Special Advisers and two Senior Assistants. These appointments are as follows:
Hadiza Bala Usman has been appointed as the Special Adviser for Policy Coordination. Hannatu Musa Musawa will serve as the Special Adviser for Culture and Entertainment Economy.
Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (Senate). Hon. (Barr) Olarewaju Kunle Ibrahim will take on the role of Senior Special Assistant for National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
Finally, the President has appointed Adeniyi Bashir Adewale as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs. It is important to note that the newly appointed Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, and Comptroller General of Customs will serve in an acting capacity until their confirmation, in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic
