Operating as a striker, Ogundana has been shining brightly in Flamengo’s U-20 B team, consistently finding the back of the net in all of his appearances.

In a recent friendly match, the Nigerian striker once again displayed his exceptional skills by scoring two remarkable goals, attracting attention throughout Brazil. He has been a standout player for the Rubro-Negro in this category. Flamengo’s senior team coach, Argentine Jorge Sampaoli, is contemplating featuring the Nigerian prodigy in the senior team, expressing, “Shola Ogundana is an extraordinary talent, and I want him in the senior team,” according to the Flamengo coach.

Since joining Flamengo as a recent addition, Ogundana has already netted four goals in five games. The forward was loaned from Remo Stars (NGA) and joined Flamengo in April. Since his arrival at Gávea, Ogundana has been garnering attention while competing for the U-20 B team.

In late April, Flamengo made an innovative move by securing a one-year loan signing of the young Nigerian forward Shola Ogundana from Remo Stars in Nigeria for the U-20 team. However, in order to permanently secure the player by mid-2024, Flamengo will need to pay a substantial amount. This information was disclosed by YouTuber África Mamba, who specializes in African football.

“The expectation is for him to improve from youth to professional football, participate in the upcoming Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, and continue his development. “ The objective is for him to gradually adapt to Brazilian football by the end of the year. Relocating from Nigeria to Brazil is no easy feat. Shola is known for his speed and has also impressed with his assists, contributing to 10 goals in 18 games,” said the coach of the U-20 team.

Flamengo will be required to pay $500,000 (2.4 million Brazilian Reais) if they wish to retain Shola Ogundana permanently .
