Breaking: Tani Olohun Granted Bail, Court Demands 6 Million Naira Bail Conditions

In a significant development, Yoruba activist and Isese Blogger, Tani Olohun, has been granted bail. The activist, previously remanded in Ilorin prison, secured bail on the morning of November 16, 2023, under conditions deemed technically challenging by Magistrate Mohammed Adams.

Sources reveal that the bail conditions require a total sum of 6 million naira, encompassing all charges levied against Tani Olohun.

Tani Olohun’s lawyer stated that the defense opted not to contest the bail conditions, emphasizing that the activist must issue a public apology upon release and fulfill the specified bail requirements.

According to the lawyer, Tani Olohun must secure two sureties, each possessing at least 2 million naira and landed properties in Ilorin. Additionally, two more sureties with a minimum of 1 million naira in their accounts and fixed residence in Ilorin are required. The lawyer emphasized that Tani Olohun must also sign an affidavit of peace.

Highlighting the weariness within Muslim communities nationwide, the lawyers stressed that the accusations against Tani Olohun are pending even after his release, contingent on his post-freedom conduct.

Accusation lawyers revealed that numerous Muslim communities, organizations, and prominent individuals have urged them to refrain from prosecuting Tani Olohun. They celebrate his freedom and express anticipation for him to honor the promises outlined in the peace accord.
