Salvador, Brazil – September 19, 2025. The city of Salvador hosted the V International Seminar on Cognitive Analysis (SIANCO 2025) from September 15th to 19th, bringing together researchers from Brazil and abroad to debate the future of Cognitive Analysis (AnCo) as a transdisciplinary and multireferential field
Among the international highlights was Professor Tayo Ajayi of Lagos State University, Nigeria, who delivered a lecture titled “Multilingualism and Cognitive Analysis in a Bilingual Society: The Case of Lagos State University’s Community.” His presentation explored how multilingual interaction in Lagos shapes cognitive processes, professional training, and identity within academic and urban environments.
SIANCO 2025, organized by the Graduate Program in Knowledge Diffusion (PPGDC) in partnership with seven higher education institutions, offered a wide program of roundtables, lectures, and workshops. The seminar featured speakers from France, Chile, Ecuador, several African countries, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, and Spain, alongside Brazilian specialists, reinforcing its role as a global platform for academic exchange.
Events took place across multiple venues in Salvador, including the Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA), the School of Administration at UFBA, and the Faculty of Education (FACED/UFBA). With both in-person and online sessions, the seminar expanded its reach to participants worldwide.
Professor Ajayi’s contribution emphasized the importance of recognizing Africa’s perspectives within global research dialogues. His intervention was praised as one of the most thought-provoking moments of SIANCO 2025, further consolidating the event’s reputation as a hub for international collaboration in knowledge diffusion and cognitive studies.
Following his presentation, Prof Ajayi extended a special invitation to scholars in attendance to participate in the forthcoming Conference of the Lagos State University Center for Afro-Brazilian Studies, scheduled to take place in Salvador next year. He noted that the initiative has already received pledges of support from key figures, including Ambassador Francisco Luz, former Consul General of Brazil in Lagos (2020–2023) and now head of Ìtamathy in Salvador, as well as Ambassador Celso, also based in Salvador.
In recognition of his contribution to the international academic community, Professor Ajayi was honored with an Award of Academic Excellence by the Vice-Chancellor of the Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB).
