BRAZIL Mourns Alaafin
The death of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , Alaafin of Oyo , is no doubt a big loss to the Yorubas in Brazil , Nígeria and around the globe .
The Brazil-Yorubas and all the Yoruba traditionalists in Brazil have sent condolence messages to the palace , they have mourned the sudden demise , they described Orisa Iku “ Death” as a deity that carries out his functions when necessary .
Though against the Muslim traditional rites in the Oyo palace , the Brazil Yoruba Traditionalists have also declared 3 days to honor the demise , they found it necessary to honor a prominent monarch who reigned in Oyo for 52 years as the Alaafin , the Iku Baba Yeye .
The Nigeria-Yorubas in Brazil have also sent condolence messages , many have described the death as a loss that can not be replaced , they pray that the Yoruba race will have the fortitude to bear the loss .
The Yoruba organizations , associations and groups in Brazil have all showered condolence messages to the palace , they wished him well as he returned to his Ancestors.
